Truth Exposed:   Friend

What is a friend?  A friend is someone with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations.  This takes time, effort, and diligence.  An acquaintance is a person one knows slightly, but who is not a close friend.  This level is very weak and requires almost no care to maintain.  A person we may recognize is someone we identify from knowledge of appearance or character. This level requires nothing from us.  Two men are mentioned in the bible whom the Lord God called “friend”: Moses in Exodus 33:11, and Abraham in James 2:23.  In John 15:15, Jesus calls us his friend if we love and obey him.  All of these descriptions apply to our relationship with Jesus, but we must each determine what level we want to remain at.  The question is:  what is the level of my relationship with Christ?
