Truth Exposed:   Names

In the Old Testament, God is known by many names.  All except one has been given by man; God was given names according to situations and events, such as The God who sees me, El Roi; the God who heals, Jehovah Rapha; God Almighty, El Shaddai; God, Elohim; God who hears, El Shama; etc.  In Exodus 3:14, we find a startling revelation:  God himself told Moses his name - I AM.  The last sentence of this verses says it all:  “This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.”  I AM.  We only seem to remember that when we are reading about the burning bush.  Every time we start a sentence with "I Am" we need to remember that is the Lord's name, and that he is present in everything we use that phrase for.  Think about it:  I am going shopping - Jesus is going with me;  I am hungry - Jesus is in my need;  I am sick -  Jesus is present with me in my illness.   Jesus calls himself “I Am” at least 10x in the gospels and several times in Revelation.  Not only is His ETERNAL name for all generations, but he is with us by his name in all things for all generations.
