Truth Exposed: Promises
There are so many promises of God in scripture, to the point that entire books have been written with just the promises, all of them positive, encouraging, and hopeful. Yet we tend not to think of the promises that are not so uplifting, i.e. Hebrews 12:6; Rev 3:19; Job 5:17. Deuteronomy 8:20 gives a very severe promise of God, he will destroy the disobedient. Harsh, very harsh, but the Lord means business when he tells us to obey. Exodus 32:31-33 states this very strongly. Stand on the promises and live; sit on the premises and perish.
