Truth Exposed: Boasting
Boasting is defined as excessively proud and self-satisfied talk about one's achievements, possessions, or abilities. It is a very negative quality that exalts self, totally ungodly. Instead, we are to boast in the accomplishments of the Lord in our lives, to demonstrate to others the power of the Living God. Jeremiah 9:23, James 4:16-17, 1 Corinthians 1:31, and 2 Corinthians 12:9 all direct our proud talk to be of Christ, not of self. Boasting in the greatness of God highlights the importance of humility and reliance on divine strength.
