Truth Exposed: Emotions
Psalm 78:59-60 tells us with 3 words some of the harsh feelings God has for those who are disobedient and reject him: wrath; abhorred; and abandoned. Biblical wrath is defined as strong, vengeful anger. Abhorred is defined as strong aversion or loathing. And biblical abandonment is forsaken, deserted, or left behind. Those feelings are extremely hard to deal with. We all want to hear about the love and compassion of the Lord, but we certainly want to avoid anything related to chastisement or punishment. We must balance our view of God with both qualities. Avoiding the harsher side will only lead to our downfall; think about it.
