Truth Exposed:   Good Shepherd

Every word in scripture is important.  John 10:11 says Jesus is the good (kalos:  virtuous, better, fair, honest, well, worthy, stable, commendable, admirable) shepherd.  If he is the good one, who is the bad one? John 10:12-13, gives the immediate answer: the hireling (misthotos:  a wage-worker).  These 2, and many more, describe hirelings: Galatians 1:6-9, Romans 16:17.   Jeremiah 23 gives a scathing indictment against bad shepherds.  Jesus is committed to US, the hireling is committed to his paycheck.  Motive makes all the difference.   What is your shepherd’s motive?
