Truth Exposed: Compliance
In Luke 6:27-31, we read about loving your enemies. We all know what this says, but do we? Verse 27 begins: “But to you who are willing to listen . . .” WILLING. Jesus was talking to the believing Jews, those who followed Yahweh, not the unbelievers. Because Jesus made this statement, this tells me that there are those who are not willing to listen even though they profess to follow God. Are we willing to listen to what the Lord says? Which group am I in? The Greek, akouo, means “to understand, consider what is being said.” Pay attention. Am I willing? Am I hearing but not listening? Proverbs 12:15, Mark 4:9.
