Truth Exposed: Divine Love
There are so many different kinds of love, but our English language is very limiting in definition for any specific type. Not so in scripture. In John 14:15-24, there is another word for love, agapaho. This is the verb of the noun, agape, and it means “to love divinely.” Divine love is the love that God has for His creation, particularly for humanity, and is characterized by its selflessness, sacrificial nature, and eternal commitment, and the 13 characteristics of this agapaho are stated quite clearly in 1 Corinthians 13. The question to be asked now, is, do I divinely love God, his creation, and humanity? Re-read the John passage and substitute “divinely love” everyplace the word “love” is. Read it with the definition in mind. How do I feel about this scripture now?
