Truth Exposed:   Peace

Psalm 122:6 commands us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”  The Hebrew for peace is shalom, and it not only means to be safe, sound, and free from war, but also to be in a covenant relationship with GodIsaiah 9:6 calls the Messiah the Prince of Peace.  Therefore, when we are praying for peace for Jerusalem, it is not only for the cessation of hostilities, but for the receiving of the Messiah as the Son of God; it is two-fold.  The only way peace will reign in Jerusalem is if Christ is King over all.  Jesus Christ is our shalom.  Our prayers are to be both noun and verb for the shalom of Jerusalem, and all of Israel.   Listen to Paul Wilbur sing Shalom Jerusalem.
