Truth Exposed:  Raisin Cakes

Hosea 3:1 cites raisin cakes that the Hebrews used during feasts and festivals.  These were delicacies that were offered to various pagan deities in pagan worship ceremonies, such as Baal and Ishtar, the queen of heaven cited in Jeremiah 7:18.  They were offerings used in all their fertility rites.  During the Middle Ages, monks added a cross on the top of the cakes to reflect the crucifixion.  The cakes were typically eaten on Good Friday.  Today, they are a symbol of the Lenten season and are called “hot crossed buns.”
