Truth Exposed:  

Luke 6:5 tells us Jesus is calling himself “Lord of the Sabbath.”  What does that mean?  A lord has authority, control and power over people and things.  Jesus is telling the Pharisees that he has control over the Sabbath because:  (1)  he is God;  (2)  he created the Sabbath, therefore he controls it;  (3)  he was finding nothing wrong with the disciple’s behavior on the Sabbath.  Jesus was pointing out to the Pharisees the error of their own law and thinking, but once again, it went right over their heads.   The commands of God are meant to set us free, not to bind the chains tighter.
