Truth Exposed:   Authority

Judges 8:20-21 are extremely significant.  Verse 20 indicates that to be killed by a child, especially if the victim is a king, is the highest insult that can be given.  It signifies your lack of worth or standing.  As for the jewelry on the camels, verse 21, these were most likely amulets to their pagan gods, especially the sun and moon.  Putting them on animals indicated complete takeover by paganism when an enemy was conquered.  Taking them from the animal’s necks said that the pagan gods were of no consequence and easily overtaken.  Think the Islamic war today (no jewels on animals but mosques on property) and the jewelry people wear; jewelry may be worn to mark a person's identity.    Hmmmmmm ………..
