Truth Exposed:  Legalism

God gave Moses 10 Commandments and 619 common-sense laws in the Torah, the books of Moses, but down the road the Rabbis took them, created the Mishnah by expounding them, and strangled the people with them.  What the Rabbis did is called legalism: excessive adherence to law or formula: or theologically, dependence on moral law rather than on personal religious faith.   1 John 5:3 tells us that obeying God is not hard, yet when we try to do things by works, then legalism chokes us.  Proverbs 14:12 warns us against the ways of man, which can cripple us.  Galatians 2:16 tells us works won’t get it.  Legalism steals your joy.
