Truth Exposed: Prophets
The prophet Samuel and Jesus are both declared to have at least one thing in common: 1 Samuel 2:26 and Luke 2:52 both say the same thing about both persons: they grew in favor with God and man. What a fabulous statement to be made of a mortal compared to the Son of God! Only complete, uninhibited surrender brings one to this point. Samuel was the prophet to Saul and David, and he never softened God’s word; he was as blunt as God was. Jesus was the prophet to Israel, and he didn’t soft-soap his declarations, either. What God says God means. Those who are called to speak out the word of the Lord must never alter it to save people’s feelings. Who do I fear: God or man?
