Truth Exposed: Privilege
Philippians 1:29 uses the word “privilege” twice. The definition of privilege is: a special right or advantage that a particular person or group of people has. With this definition in mind, the 2 things we are privileged in this verse are trust (a complete surrender and reliance on God, knowing that He is faithful and will fulfill His promises) and suffering (trials, pain, and hardship that individuals endure in life.) for the Lord. Really? That’s a PRIVILEGE? Indeed, yes. Only the parent’s children have completely unrestricted access to their father. All others are locked outside the gate. We need to remember whose we are and act on our privileges.
