Truth Exposed: Light #3
There are 2 places in scripture that Jesus is called the “true light”: John 1:9 and 1 John 2:8. Anytime you see the word “true” attached to a characteristic of Jesus, then know that there is a counterfeit lurking somewhere close by. The word “true” in this context is a warning, be on guard, there is something waiting to ambush you. And we know who it is: Satan is revealed in 2 Corinthians 11:14 as the imposter. Jesus tells us that he is the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6, and he also tells us what Satan is in John 8:44. God loves us so much that he spells out what we are to look for, so that we are not unaware of the tricks of Satan. Every single word in scripture is important.
