Truth Exposed:   Light #2

In Genesis 1:2 we read that the earth was “without form and void, and darkness covered . . .”  the Hebrew translates this as “an undistinguishable ruin.”  Verse 3 introduces light.  The Hebrew word for light is “ori,” which not only means “to illuminate” but has a deeper meaning of “bringing order out of chaos.”  When Jesus said that he is the light of the world, he was announcing that he was here to bring spiritual order out of the physical chaos of sin, and that if we follow him we will never walk in the chaos of the world.    John 8:12.  We are called to be this light in Matt. 5:14-16.  This is our purpose, as stated in Ephesians 5:8.  Living the truth of scripture enables us to also bring spiritual order into the chaotic world of sin.  Is your light shining?
